Pennine League Supplementary Cup Final Tetley Stadium Dewsbury Siddal B 40pts New Earswick All Blacks A 16pts New Easwick All Blacks A defending the Pennine League Supplementary Cup were over powered by their opponents Siddal B losing 40 pts to 16pts at the Tetley Stadium Dewsbury. All Blacks A never got into the match in the first half which was dominated by the much bigger and more experienced Siddal B forwards who slipped the ball out of tackles at will forcing the All Blacks onto the back foot and with a lot of defending were unable to prevent being 18 – 0 down at half time, All Blacks had spells in the first half when they did attack the Siddel B line but played to much ball down the middle of the park and could not break through. After the break All Blacks A started stronger started to play the ball out wide with prop JO JO Hnesh ran the line from deep to at last cross the for the first All Blacks try, Carl Fernandez failed to land the Goal. With renewed hope All Blacks failed to push on despite looking to control the match at this point. Siddal B kick over the All Blacks defence to gather the ball to score to score a converted try which again put the All Blacks back onto the back foot allowing Siddal B to take the next two unconverted try to put the match beyond the All Blacks. With ten minutes to go Jo Jo Hnesh again running strongly from deep beat off he attention of three Siddal B defenders to score his second try of the match Carl Fernandez adding the conversion. But Siddal B hit straight back to score another converted try. A case of to little to late All Blacks A played some of their best Rugby at last getting the ball out wide in the last five minutes and after some great passing and backing up Adam Caddy went over to score the final try of the match Fernandez adding the goal. All Blacks A in fairness have played worse and won matches this season but were up against a well drilled powerful Siddal B. Man of the Match for All Blacks was prop forward Jo Jo Hnesh but sub Nathern Tupman put in a good all round performance as did youngster Jack Carling. Wayne Foster topped the tackle count with wingman Ben Cooper also putting in some Stirling defences work. Coach Dave Carling was still delighted with the progress made by his young charges this season saying “ I am proud of the way this team has developed this season reaching the Final to defend the Cup we won last year and for the second year in a row getting promotion is a fantastic effort but we let our selves down a little today “ |
