New Earswick All Blacks took victory in the York & District Cup Final at Elm Park Way Heworth when they defeated York Acorn with an 18-6 victory. It was a tight opening 10 minutes to the game with both sides trying to exploit each others errors. On the 13th minute Stand Off Adam Caddie broke down the line with quick hands to put Winger Dean Smith in at the corner for an unconverted try. All Blacks continued to pressure the Acorn defence well placed kick through by Scrum Half Liam Gargan collected by centre Chris Spain to pick up and score an unconverted try. The remainder of the half was end to end stuff with nether side able to break through tight defenses. Acorn started the second half brighter with a converted try 5 minutes after the break to close the gap to within 2 points. All Blacks stretched there lead with a superb chip over the Acorn defense by Liam Gargan and plucked out of the air by Hooker Jack Hodgson to crash in under the posts which was converted by Stand Off Adam Caddie. The All Blacks and Acorn pressured each teams defense but the All Blacks sealed the win with a powerful drive by Dan Atkinson to score an unconverted try. The All Blacks saw off the game to claim victory with solid display from Props Wayne Foster , Dan Atkinson and Scrum half Liam Gargan. |
